The Emergency Communications (BSX) Project
The ECOM Emergency Communication System Architecture Project is developing options for a national communication system designed for use in extended, multi-region power outages. Focusing primarily on the voice and data needs of lifeline utilities and their government and NGO partners, the ECOM architecture is designed to provide users with operate with multi-level services allowing for widely based communication capabilities. ECOM is also designed to support eventual incorporation into an overall Command, Control, Coordination and Communication (C4) system, that will include situational awareness and assisted decision making tools for emergency response agencies, utilities, key service providers and other stakeholders.
